Public Consultation on “Licensing TETRA Systems”: Netfon’s Response
Netfon, being consultants in telecommunications and representatives of Rohde & Schwarz in Cyprus, responded to the public consultation document on Licensing TETRA systems in Cyprus, jointly issued by the Department of Electronic Communications of the Ministry of Communications and Works and by the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic and Postal Regulation, with an extensive paper (click here to download).
In its response Netfon advocated for the choice of TETRA as the right system for trunked private communications and gave numerous arguments to this respect. However, Netfon did not support the proposal for licensing numerous national networks and suggested instead the implementation of a national security system, run by the police or by an independent organisation controlled by the security services, and of a number of private geographically restricted networks for commercial purposes.
